10 Home Remedies for Dandruff

Aspirin

Acetylsalicylic acid in aspirin is a great help in controlling dandruffs.

Mix two crushed aspirins with the same amount of shampoo. Use the mixture to wash your hair making sure that you massage your scalp.

You may also mix three crushed aspirins and one tablespoon of vinegar. Massage your scalp with the mixture. Leave it on the hair for 30 minutes then wash the hair thoroughly.

Thyme

Thyme’s antifungal and antiseptic properties are great help in treating dandruff.

Four tablespoons of dried thyme is mixed with 2 cups of water. Boil the mixture for about 10-15 minutes. After that, strain the mixture and let it cool down.

Use the solution to massage your scalp. Soak for at least five minutes. Then repeat the process twice. Wait around two to three hours before washing the hair.

Aloe Vera

Dandruff is best combated with the help of aloe vera’s antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Before taking a shower, apply some aloe vera gel or some fresh aloe vera juice to the hair. Wash the hair with mild shampoo. Do this for at least twice a day.

Fenugreek Seeds

The fenugreek seeds have soothing properties and antifungal qualities as well. These factors are of great use to treat dandruffs.

Get some fenugreek seeds soaked overnight. Grind them into a very fine paste in the morning.

Use the paste to apply over the scalp and leave the paste on the scalp for a few hours. Use a mild kind of shampoo to rinse. In the case of extreme dandruff formation, do this at least two times a week.

Olive Oil

Virgin Olive Oil is a natural moisturizer.

Get some virgin coconut oil and heat until it becomes a little warm. Massage the oil on the scalp. Keep your hair wrapped in a towel for at least an hour.

White Vinegar

This is one of the highly respected treatments for dandruff. The acetic acid found in white vinegars keeps the fungi and bacteria from growing.

Mix a part of vinegar into three parts of water. Use this to massage the hair. Rinse with water. Vinegar can be directly applied to the hair. Then wrap the head with towel and leave overnight. Wash the hair in the morning.

Other Remedies

Baking Soda reduces overactive fungi that causes dandruff and it helps in restoring the production of the natural oils that prevents the scalp from becoming flaky and dry.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut Oil are also used to get rid of the dandruff. Apple cider vinegar restores the pH level balance of the scalp while coconut oil moisturizes the scalp and keeps fungi away.

Indian Lilac

Neem, that has the anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties help in treating dandruff and other problems like scalp acne, itchy scalp, and even hair fall.
