Loads of cash will go into waste with spoiled food if not for the fridge.

The most common response today is to put all the items we got from the wet market into the fridge. Surprisingly, there are these items that will free those precious shelf spaces in the fridge since they do not need the extra cold temperature.

Hot Sauce

If you are one who is into the spicy section of foods, hot sauce is one thing that will be constant in your grocery list. Do not worry about shelf space as the hot sauce, whatever the brand is, can survive in the pantry for up to three years.

Potatoes

Potatoes have a special spot in many dining tables. From being mashed, baked, or fried, it is one ingredient you don’t want to find yourself lacking in. Refrigeration may be the first choice in storing it but it only affects their flavor adversely. Store them in the pantry inside paper bags. Plastic bags just trap the moisture and speed up the decaying process. Potatoes can last up to three weeks in this way.

Bread

The temperature inside the refrigerator will speed up its drying up. Freeze what you will not eat in four days, and keep the rest at room temperature.

Onions

The proper circulation of air is necessary to keep onions fresh. The mesh bag where they might be probably stored before you bought them is perfect to keep them fresh. When storing with other produce, keep them away from the potatoes. Potatoes are known to emit some moisture and other gases that makes onions rot faster.

Batteries

Extreme cold and heat decrease the performance of batteries. Keep them in drawers and other safe keep cabinets at room temperature.

Garlic

Garlic lasts for two months when kept in the pantry. They do not need refrigeration. Make sure that there is enough space between each piece to ensure that air moves freely.

Tomatoes

Leave tomatoes on the counter or some other open space. Remove them out of their plastic bags. Keeping them inside a paper bag will speed up the ripening process. They can last up to three days once they have become ripe.

Coffee

Condensation affect the flavor of coffee, whether ground coffee or coffee beans. It is best to store them in an airtight container safely in the pantry.

Nail Polish

Its consistency will thicken if nail polish is kept in the fridge. Store them in room temperature, away from the sunlight’s rays.

Winter Squashes

Acorn, delicate, spaghetti, and butternut varieties lasts up to a month or more in the pantry. No extra cold air needed.
