How to Get Rid of Unpleasant Vaginal/Feminine Odor

Having bad vaginal odor is a very common problem that almost all women experience at least once or twice in their lives. The occurrence of foul-smelling vaginal odor can be due to a number of reasons. It can be because of bacterial growth, poor physical hygiene, presence of yeast infection, having a sexually transmitted disease or maybe because of hormonal changes.

If you’ve somehow recently experienced a smelly vaginal discharge, it could mean that there’s an overgrowth of yeast bacteria in your vaginal canal. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) and yeast infections at the vagina can produce a foul odor which could be very embarrassing at times. But the fact is, feminine odor can really change throughout the month as a woman undergoes her menstrual cycle. Just as your feet or your mouth has a smell, your vagina has one too due to the bacteria that’s present in the area. Treatment should be sought however, if the smell becomes too rancid or funky as this could indicate an infection. If accompanied by burning, redness, itching and yellowish discharge, then your vaginal odor may be pointing to you having bacterial vaginosis. If your vaginal smell does not seem to indicate anything serious, then you can just use a number of home remedies to eliminate the foul odor.

1. Use of apple cider vinegar.
Apple cider vinegar has potent antibacterial and antiseptic properties—meaning it could be used to combat that nasty vaginal odor. Truth be told, one on the simplest ways to get rid of foul vaginal odor is to just take a bath using apple cider vinegar. It fights off the toxins that causes the odor and restores the acidic environment of the vaginal flora.
To do this: mix 2 cups of apple cider vinegar to your bath water. Soak in it for 15-20 minutes then rinse yourself. Do this several times a week for a quicker resolution to your problem.

2. Use of baking soda.
Baking soda is considered a wonder product, thanks to its many useful uses in both inside and outside of the home. Baking soda has the capacity to balance the pH levels in the body. Your vaginal odor could dissipate once your vaginal pH gets regulated. To do this: soak yourself in warm bath water with half a cup of baking soda added in it. Do this often to keep yeast infections at bay and eliminate bad vaginal odor ASAP.

3. Use Yougurt
Yogurt is loaded with lactobacillus bacteria that helps fight off candida infections (one of the most common causes of smelly vaginal odour and discharge). Yogurt also regulates the body’s pH levels, and again, once it is back in equilibrium, the odor will be gone. To do this: eat a cup or two of unsweetened yogurt each day or you may also choose to take probiotics supplements. One other option is to soak an unused tampon in plain yougurt and insert it to your vagina after. Leave it on for a few hours then remove the tampon before rinsing the entire area thoroughly.

4. Use of Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree has massive antifungal and antimicrobial properties making it a good candidate in the fight against unpleasant vaginal odor. To do this: mix 3 drops of the oil to a cup of water. Use this solution to rinse the area several times a week. You may also dip a tampon in oil and leave it inside you for an hour or so, then rinse.

5. Use Garlic
The antifungal properties of garlic are proven effective in ridding the body of yeast infections. To do this: eat raw garlic (or you may also cook it) every day. Try consuming two cloves of raw garlic on an empty stomach and down it with warm water. Another option is to place a clove of raw garlic in your vagina for at least an hour. Do this several times a week until the problems gets solved.

6. Use Fenugreek
Fenugreek helps promote regular menstrual cycles and aids in correcting hormonal imbalances. To do this: Soak a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of warm water before you hit the sack. When you wake up the next morning, strain the seeds out and drink the water on an empty stomach. It is worth noting that fenugreek can sometimes cause skin irritation and diarrhea. Discontinue using the solution once you’ve experienced any of these symptoms.
