Recipes for oily skin

Most people, especially women and some men, find an oily skin unsightly. In anatomy ad physiology, the oil glands are responsible for the secretion of oil in the skin. Aesthetically, getting rid of excess oil in the face is a concern to most people, as an oily face is predisposed to conditions like pimples, acne, blackheads or skin infection. In line with the management of oily skin, especially in the face, homemade face masks made from natural ingredients can be used.

The following are homemade mask recipes one can use to manage oily skin.

Cucumber, eggs, and are some natural ingredients one can use to make a face mask. According to Best Natural Tips, these help clean clogged pores and remove blackheads. The ingredients include a tablespoon of cucumber juice, one egg white, a few drops of lemon juice, and half teaspoon clay. To prepare, the ingredients are mix together in a container until a smooth paste is formed. Once done, the mixture is applied to the face carefully, avoiding the eyes and is left for ten to 20 minutes. After the said time frame, the face is thoroughly rinsed with lukewarm water. As per the publication, this natural face mask is used once a week, usually in the evening, as the lemon juice component of the mask makes the skin prone to sunlight sensitivity.

Apricot, yogurt, and clay are other natural ingredients that can be made into a face mask and they are known to control skin oiliness, soothe acne, and nourish the skin. The ingredient list includes an apricot, one tablespoon yogurt, and half teaspoon of clay. To prepare, the apricot is peeled and mashed in a food processor or blender. Then, the yogurt  and clay are added, mixing all ingredients until a smooth paste is formed. The paste is applied to the face carefully, avoiding the eyes, and is left on for 20 minutes. After the given time frame, the face is rinsed with lukewarm water. The apricot and yogurt face mask is used one to two times a week.

Banana and orange can also be transformed into face mask. According to Natural Beauty Tips, one fully ripe banana (one can ripe it in a freezer), a tablespoon of honey, and an orange (or lemon) are the ingredients needed. The banana is mashed while the honey is added. In fact, they can be mixed in a blender. Then, few drops of orange or lemon juice are added to the blended banana and honey. The resulting mixture is applied to the face and is left for about 15 minutes. After the given time, the face is rinsed with a cool absorbent soft washcloth or a steaming warm washcloth and can be followed with a regular moisturizer if preferred. As per the publication, orange peel is also a natural and effective management for oily skin, primarily by opening and cleansing clogged skin  pores and removing excess oil from the skin. The orange peels are dried out in shade and are ground into powder form. Then, the resulting powder is mixed with either yogurt or water to form a face mask.

The combination of egg white, honey, and oats can also remove excess oil from the skin. According to Hello Glow, egg whites are usually used in masks to tone, tighten, and maintain the dryness of the skin. Honey aids in the skin’s natural healing while ground oats help absorb oil and exfoliate dead skin cells, which clog pores. The ingredients include one egg white, a teaspoon of honey, and ground oats. Flour can be used as substitute to oats. To prepare, the egg white and honey are combined until frothy. Then, the ground oats or flour is added until the mixture becomes a paste. The paste is then applied to the face, avoiding the eyes, and is gently massaged into the skin. The mask is left for ten minutes and is removed with warm water.

Aside from the use of the aforementioned natural face masks, one can control excessive oil in the skin by eating fruits and vegetables and washing the face with soap and water.
