Ginger-cayenne paste

Combine cayenne and ginger with water until you create a paste. Roll a small sized cotton ball into the paste and place on your tooth without touching your gums or even your tongue. Leave the cotton ball on until the pain is reduced. You can even use these spices on their own if you like and they will still help alleviate the pain because they have pain killing effects.

Salt water

Another possible home remedy to try on your toothache is salt water. Simply add a heaping tablespoon of salt into a glass of water, mix then swish it in your mouth for as long as you can manage. Spit it out afterwards. You can do this as many times as you want until the pain recedes. Just make sure that you don’t swallow this concoction because it will leave an uncomfortable feeling in your throat.

Tea

If your toothache is bothering you and you are starting to feel a throbbing pain starting to surface, why not soothe it away with some tea? Peppermint tea has a nice, refreshing flavor and some numbing power too which you need to get rid of the pain of toothache. You will need 1 teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves in a cup of boiling water and let it steep for 20 minutes. After the tea starts to cool, swish it around your mouth for a few minutes before spitting it out. You can swallow it after if you like since tea is still good for you plus the smell of this tea can help freshen your breath. You can opt for black tea if you like because it can also help reduce the swelling and pain associated with toothache.

Vanilla extract

Who would have thought that vanilla extract can also help reduce the pain and swelling caused by toothache? All that you have to do is saturate a cotton ball in vanilla then place it on the affected tooth. You can also use other extracts like peppermint, almond, and even lemon extract because they have the same effects too.

Ice

This is probably one of the easiest remedies to fight off the pain caused by toothache. Simply gather a few ice cubes and wrap it in clean washcloth. Place it on the area that hurts and leave it on for a few minutes or until the pain subsides. You can use this as many times as you want.
