There’s little this fermented-fruit tonic can’t do. Steal a few of our favorite ways to take advantage of its healing powers. Be sure to buy the vinegar cold-pressed and unpasteurized, as heat can destroy beneficial nutrients and enzymes in the vinegar.

For dull hair and dandruff…

Doctor’s tip: Its astringent properties make hair look shinier, but apple cider vinegar can also treat dandruff by reducing the growth of the fungus Malassezia furfur.

For bad breath…
A capful chased with water dispels onion breath.

For troubled skin…
Dampen a cotton ball and hold on a pimple for 5 minutes. It reduces blemishes quickly.

For heartburn…
I take a teaspoon of cider vinegar for heartburn. It stamps it right out

Doctor’s tip: Consume no more than 2 tablespoons of vinegar in 8 ounces of water.
