DIY: Homemade Lemon and Sugar Scrub for Tan Removal

Skin is the most sensitive organ in our body that gets affected by surroundings easily. No matter, how much we try to cover and protect it; it gets damaged by the sun and other environmental factors. In such a case, we need something that sloughs off dead skin cells along with tan that has accumulated all over the face due to more melanin synthesis, and there cannot be a better option than lemon and sugar scrub. Lemon has properties which removes tan, cleans up the skin and clears the pores. Sugar adds to its benefits by acting as a powerful exfoliating agent.

Ingredients:

½ fresh lemon
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp organic honey
Why these ingredients?

Lemon- It is highly rich in vitamin C and is commonly used to suppress age spots and treat sun damaged skin. It also helps tighten the pores and brightens the complexion.
Sugar- Sugar acts as an exfoliator and gently sloughs off all the dead cells on the body, thereby improving the overall texture of the skin.
Olive Oil- It is an excellent emollient that deeply nourishes and cleanses the skin. It also helps combat the signs of aging.
Honey- Honey is a natural antioxidant and antibacterial agent that protects the skin from environmental damage as well as nourishes and moisturizes it efficaciously.
How to prepare?

Step 1 : Mix together lemon juice and olive oil in a bowl. You can add less of olive oil, if you want thick consistency, or add the mentioned amount for medium consistency.

Step 2 : Add honey and whisk quickly and gently to attain a medium consistency.

Step 3 : Finally, add the sugar and mix together all the ingredients well.

DIY homemade lemon and honey tan removal scrub is ready!

How to apply?

To use it as a face scrub, apply on clean face, and gently rub it in a circular motion, massaging for 2-3 minutes. Leave it on for 5-7 minutes, and rinse off with cold water and pat your skin dry. You can apply a moisturizer, if your skin feels too dry.
