There are only a few words that can describe the kind of savoury taste that a well-cooked steak can bring. So whether you are tossing a few slabs on the grill or dining somewhere fancy, steak is a meat-choice that is surely going to be a crowd favourite.
Steak offers a slew of health benefits. It is rich in protein which is essential in the repair and build-up of muscle tissues. By having healthy muscles, you are able to do things and an array of physical activities that you won’t be able to do so otherwise. Protein also allows you to get satiated easily and stay feeling full for a longer period of time, ergo, helping you in losing weight because you won’t feel the need to eat as often.
However, for those of you who are not yet in the know, “chimichurri” is an Argentinian condiment; a green sauce mostly used for grilled meat to give it more flavours. It is another term coined for pesto and based loosely on chopped parsley, sunflower oil, minced garlic, white vinegar and oregano. For a more zesty meal, try the recipe below for grilled steak with cilantro chimichurri;
Fresh cilantro (1 bunch)
Garlic ( 2 cloves; peeled)
Dried oregano (2 tbsp)
Chili flakes (1 tbsp)
White wine vinegar (1/4 cup)
Extra virgin olive oil (1 cup)
Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Salt (to taste)
Steak (4 pcs, 8 ounce-size)
Olive oil (1 tsp; for brushing over steaks prior to grilling)
Combine the first 6 ingredients on the list; make sure to season with salt and pepper then transfer to a smaller bowl.
Pre-heat a barbecue grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush a bit of olive oil on both sides of the steaks before putting them on the grill. Start grilling the meat flipping once halfway through the cooking process. Grill for 6 minutes per side if you’re gunning for medium-cooked steaks. Remove from the grill. Allow to cool before slicing.
Serve with the chimichurri sauce on top. Enjoy.
