The holiday season can be considered both the best and worst time of the year. It is the best time to enjoy the festivities with all the gifts, tasty food and such but it is also the worst time—for those who are on diet.

Aside from breaking the difficultly retained diet routine, the holiday season can also give a person so much pain—in the stomach that is.

When you’ve finally given in to the temptation of sugary and fatty festival foods, here are some tips to ease that terrible feeling in your gut that could actually make you sick, thanks to Pure Balance Health Center Founder Dr. Tom Bayne.

Drinking Herbal Tea
Teas, especially herbal ones which target the digestive tract, could give relief to that feeling of fullness. A special mixture of mint, oregano, rosemary, cilantro, basil and sage—a teaspoon of each in a cup of water—should be drank every after meals to soothe that bloated feeling after you eat.

Morning Apple Cider Drink
One of the best morning drinks when it comes to benefits to the digestive system is one with apple cider vinegar, which is popular for its ability to relieve digestive distress while supporting the function of the liver and normalizing juices inside the digestive tract.

Also used to reduce intestinal bloating when mixed with 12 ounces of warm water, one tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar could make all your mornings bloat-free. You may also add a little bit of honey or maple syrup to make it more pleasant to the taste, or lemon for additional health benefits.

Walking
Aside from being a great exercise, walking is also a perfect way of telling your indigestion to “move along.” This is because walking helps food smoothly pass by the digestive tract as well as improve digestion and nutrient absorption. For additional benefits, try walking while massaging your abdomen in a circular motion with your palms around your belly button.

Drink Water
It was never a secret but water is still the best remedy to combating the worst effects of bad eating lifestyle and is especially effective to ease hangovers from overdrinking liquor. Water helps flush out toxins from the body while rehydrating it in the process.

Eat Right
Overeating could also be cured by taking helpings of meals rich in fiber and protein. These kinds of food would also aid one’s body in recovering from the overindulgence.
