  • To make an acne-fighting mask, mix one teaspoon of ground cinnamon with 3 tablespoon of honey. Spread the mixture on clean, dry skin and leave it for one hour before rinsing with warm water.

  • For milk bath, about a cup of milk without flavor will do to soften and smoothen the skin.

Oatmeal – this breakfast staple does not only offer digestive benefits, but also good for the skin.

  • As an exfoliating scrub, batter the oatmeal several times in a blender to make it fine, and then apply it on your skin.
  • If you have leftover oatmeal, mix it with honey and use it as a moisturizing mask.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – this healthy oil helps in moisturizing and repairing the skin. This is non-comedogenic so it won’t clog your pores. It also has vitamins A and E that fights skin aging.  Extra Virgin Olive Oil is also a great hair conditioner.

  • As a makeup remover: Dab a small amount of extra virgin olive oil in a cotton ball and gently smooth over your eyes and face to remove makeup. Rinse with warm water.
  • As hair conditioner, apply a small spoonful of oil to clean hair, wrap in a towel, leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse.
  • To moisturize the feet, massage a little olive oil to dried and cracked feet then cover with socks before bedtime.

Baking Soda – this versatile kitchen product is not only for baking, but it also does a lot to your skin and hair.  It is a good exfoliator as it removes dead skin cells. It calms acne and balances overactive oil glands.

  • Mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of tepid water until it forms a soft paste. Wet your face with warm water, and then apply the paste to your wet face using your fingertips in a gentle, circular motion.  Make sure to cover the entire face with baking soda paste.  Let the paste dry for 5 minutes, and then gently buff away the dried paste with fingertips in a circular motion. Rinse your face with warm water.
  • For limp and lifeless hair, half a teaspoon of baking soda mixed with shampoo can help remove residue, making the scalp clean.

Sugar – a lot has been said to this sweetener. Nonetheless, it offers benefits when applied to your face. This natural source of glycolic acid encourages cell turnover as well as treatment to sun-damaged and aging skin.

  • Combine ½ cup of white or brown sugar with ¼ cup of olive or coconut oil. Take one tablespoon of the sugar scrub and gently rub it on your face, body and feet for smoother skin.  Rinse well with warm water. For a less-abrasive scrub, use brown sugar.

Coconut oil – The tree of life’s oil is a good moisturizer. It helps in strengthening skin tissue and removes dead skin cells. A recent study reports that this oil improved the skin barrier functions in patients with eczema.

  • Use a dime-sized amount of coconut oil on your face and apply it like your normal moisturizer. To moisturize the entire body, a spoonful of coconut oil will do.  Putting coconut oil on the skin may feel greasy at first, but it absorbs quickly.

Tea bags – this beverage is helpful in the treatment of dark circles and puffy eyelids.  The caffeine in green tea shrink blood vessels fast, reducing swelling and tightening skin around the eye area.

  • Take damp, brewed, chilled green tea bags and place them over closed eyes for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • In achieving beautiful skin, you do not have to spend more. All it takes is to find other natural ways to keep it beautiful without creating a hole in your pocket.
