What is gingivitis?

It is a gum disease caused by bacteria from plaque build up that causes inflammation in the gums. Leaving gingivitis untreated, can cause periodontitis. Gingivitis can cause the gums to bleed and make the recipient prone to diseases.

Home remedies:

Honey – Rub honey on the gums to remove bacteria. Avoid getting honey on the teeth. 

Sea Salt Gargle – Add half a teaspoon of sea salt in a cup of water, stir until dissolved. Use as a gargle to remove bacteria and reduce inflammation.

Stress Reduction – Reduce your stress levels, people who are stressed are prone to getting periodontal disease. 

Used tea bags– apply used tea bags i=on the gums to relieve from pain due to infection.

Cranberry Juice – Drinking cranberry juice prevent bacteria from staying in the mouth. 

Vitamin C – Gingivitis can be caused by low immune system. Boost your immunity by eating vitamin C rich foods. 

Lemon Paste – create a paste with salt and lemon juice. Apply the paste on your teeth and leave for 5 minutes. Rinse with warm water. This removes plaque build-up on the teeth and removes inflammation in the gums. 

Baking soda – Brush your teeth with baking soda to remove acid from the mouth. The acid can cause the enamels in the teeth to erode. Baking soda can cure gum infection and reduce inflammation.

Nicotine Free – stop smoking Tobacco or cigarettes. Tobacco users are 80% more likely to develop gum disease, than non-users. Nicotine promotes bacteria and plaque build-up. 

Vitamin D Take vitamin d supplements or vitamin d rich foods. It stop inflammation and prevents recurrence of gingivitis.

 

Drug Store Remedies

  • Listerine – gargle with Listerine to remove bacteria and plaque in the mouth. Do it twice a day to cure gingivitis.
  • Dental Probiotic – Lozenges create good bacteria that help balance out the PH levels in the mouth and stomach.
  • Tea tree Oil toothpaste – Tea tree oil kills bacteria and reduce inflammation in the gums
  • Mouth Spray – Find mouth sprays that contain chlorhexidine, it lessens bacteria and plaque buildup.

Taking care of our teeth and gums are important. Our mouth is the dirtiest part of our body. Gingivitis makes it easier for the body to get diseases and illnesses.
