So how can you get rid of water weight? Here are a few tried and tested remedies that can help you eliminate water weight and fast.

Diuretic foods. Foods that are considered as diuretic like watermelon, grapes, pumpkin, and artichokes can help you lose water weight by making you urinate more frequently. These foods can help get rid of the excess water that you are carrying in your body but make sure that you have enough potassium in your system to avoid dehydration.

Get an extra 30 minutes of sleep. Most people sleep an average of five to six hours a day which increases their risk of retaining water. If you want to get rid of water weight, you should sleep an extra 30 minutes to give you more energy for the day. Doctors believe that sleeping for nine hours can actually speed up the elimination of water weight since you have plenty of energy to last you throughout the day.

Eat potassium-rich foods. Like it was mentioned before, potassium is important to prevent dehydration especially when you’re eliminating water from your body. Another reason why you need to have potassium is that this element also plays a part in the function of your organs, tissues, and cells. Potassium is also the one responsible for balancing the water and sodium in your body.

By drinking more than 8 glasses of water per day you are actually helping your body flush out excess water as well as toxins that can trigger bloat. Even if you reduce your water intake, you will still retain water in just 10 days.

Fennel tea. Another home remedy that can assist in getting rid of water weight is drinking fennel tea. The compound anethole is found in fennel and is found to contain numerous medicinal properties that are good for the body. Among the health benefits linked to it include relieves gas, improves digestion, lowers high blood pressure, and is a diuretic which can help you remove excess water weight. Making a tea out of powdered fennel seeds is a good way to get this into your system.

Rose petal water. Roses are not just beautiful but they can also be used to eliminate water weight. To use this remedy, get some rose petals and place them in a pan. Add some distilled water and place the pan on the stove to simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until the rose petals lose their color. Set aside to cool. Strain the solution and drink half a glass every morning and on an empty stomach. This remedy can remove excess water from your system to reduce bloat and puffiness.

Lemon juice. You can also remove excess water weight in your body with the help of lemon juice. Just combine two tablespoons of lemon juice and a teaspoon of honey in a cup of warm water and stir. Drink once a day for a week or two until you eliminate water weight. You can also combine lemon juice and parsley juice to combat water retention.
