Homemade Shaving Cream Recipes

DIY shaving cream

In this recipe, you will need shea butter, ¼ cup of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, 2/3 cup of coconut oil, 10 to 20 drops of your choice of essential oil, and 6 drops of vitamin E (optional). To make this shaving cream, you will need to melt the coconut oil and shea butter in a double broiler. Add your olive oil and essential oils into the mix. Stir in the baking soda then put the mixture in the fridge to help it harden. This will take a few hours. Mix the solution with a mixer until you get a smooth and creamy consistency. Transfer it afterwards to an airtight container and use when shaving.

The manly/feminine shaving cream

Who said that shaving creams should be just for men or women? Why not make one that you and your partner can use? For this recipe, you will need 2/3 cup of virgin coconut oil, ¼ cup of olive oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, or even jojoba oil, 5 drops of peppermint essential oil, shea butter, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, and 2 teaspoons of baking soda. Combine coconut oil and shea butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until the contents are almost melted. Remove the pan from the head then add the essential oils and olive oil. Mix the ingredients together then put in the fridge to harden. Remove the mixture after a few minutes and let it soften a bit. Add two teaspoons of baking soda then mix with a mixer until the ingredients are light and fluffy. Put it back in the fridge until harden. Scoop a spoonful of shaving cream when needed.

Rosemary mint shaving cream

Another shaving cream recipe that you might want to try is rosemary mint shaving cream. You will need shea butter, ¼ cup of jojoba or sweet almond oil, 3 to 5 drops of peppermint essential oil, 1/3 cup of virgin coconut oil, and 10 drops of rosemary essential oil. Melt the shea butter and coconut oil in a small saucepan over low heat while stirring continuously. Remove the pan from the heat then transfer to a heat-safe bowl. Mix the jojoba oil and the essential oils into the bowl then stir. Put the bowl in the fridge until the contents are solid. Remove from the fridge then use a whip or hand beater to mix until it is light and fluffy. Transfer in an air-tight container and you are done.
