Going out for drinks especially on a Friday or after a long day is a common occurrence all over the world. Most workers look forward to the happy hour where they can drink and loosen up after an intense day or week. Well, you might think that there is nothing to be gained from consuming beer, but you might be surprised to find that it does have some benefits, provided that you drink moderately. What are these supposed benefits? Here are a few that you should know of.

Adds to daily nutrient consumption

It appears that drinking a glass of beer is actually providing you with more B vitamins and proteins compared to wine. Although the antioxidants present in this drink are similar to that of wine, there is a difference between the flavonoids since hops and barley were used in beer while grapes were used in making wine. What other nutrients can be found in beer? It also comes with phosphorus, niacin, folate, annd B vitamins just to name a few.

It contains fiber

Another benefit that you can get from drinking beer is that it contains soluble fiber which is actually good for reducing one’s cholesterol levels. It also appears that some grains that were used in manufacturing beer also contains silicone that can support bone health.

Reduces risk of diabetes

A study that was seen in the journal of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes shwed that those who drank beer 3 to 4 times in a week were less likely to have diabetes compared to those who don’t. This is a promising advantage when it comes to diabetes.

Lowers risk of kidney stones

Beers that contain a significant amount of water can actually be helpful in preventing the onset of kidney stones or even bladder cancer. Water is critical in removing stones that are building up in the kidneys because it can eliminate them through urinating.

Improves heart health

What is this about beer making your heart healthy? We all prefer to drink wine for our heart’s health but it appears that drinking beer may have the same effects as well.  One study in 2016 showed that those who were moderate drinkers showed the slowest decline in terms of good cholesterol levels or HDL levels which means that they are less likely to suffer from cardiovascular diseases.  Those who suffered from heart attack already showed promising signs of better heart health after drinking moderate amounts of beer for a period of time.

Fights off inflammation

What else can you get out of drinking beer? It appears that you can also fight off inflammation with it. If there is inflammation present in the body, it means that it is fighting off diseases that are starting within you. Drinking beer can reduce the inflammation in your body because of the hops that it contains which is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Researchers have discovered that the thops that were used in beer making were actually effective in eliminating compounds in the body that are causing inflammation to occur.

Enhances brain function

The silicon that is present in beer can actually protect your brain from deterioration. Those who have been drinking moderate amounts of beer were less likely to develop brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s in the long run. 

Even with all these benefits, it is important that you don’t consume too much beer as much as possible for you to get its advantages. Think of this as too much goodness can be a bad thing. Beer may be a good beverage for you when consumed in moderation.
