Natural Remedies for Nasal Congestion

It is called nasal congestion when you are having annoying difficulties inhaling air. The feeling is like having something stuck in your nose that air won’t pass. Sometimes referred to as ‘stuffy nose’ or ‘blocked nose’, nasal congestion happens when a component around the nasal cavity swells, building up mucus.

Spicy Foods:

If you are someone who LOVES spicy foods, rejoice! For not only do you get to delight in such a delicious and challenging taste, but it also becomes your hero for the day. Eating spicy foods improve mucous flow within the nasal passages. You can even get instant relief if the sinus passage opens up.

Hot Tomato Juice:

Drink this hot juice twice a day. Here’s how you make it: boil a tablespoon of chopped garlic with a cup of tomato juice, a tablespoon of lemon juice, a tablespoon of hot sauce, and a pinch of celery salt.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Garlic:

Apple cider vinegar thins mucus clearing the congestion. Mix a tablespoon of honey with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of warm water. Drink the mixture twice or thrice a day. As per garlic, eating a fresh clove eases the discomfort. If eating it simply like that doesn’t sound appealing to you, then you may make a garlic soup by boiling in a cup of water three garlic cloves. If you want, mix ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder. You must drink the soup regularly if you want to clear the congestion.

Herbal Tea:

Drinking herbal tea flushes out the toxins in your body and thins the mucus. Double win!

Steam Inhalation:

How is steam able to clear the nasal congestion? Steam passes through the lungs and into the nasal passage causing the mucus to loose and relieving the congestion. But, you don’t just inhale whatever steam. In boiling water, you must add a tablespoon of ajwain (crushed carom seeds). After that, you may inhale.
