It was concluded that participants who slept more than 9 hours each time were 49 percent at risk of ending up with depression. Sleeping a Lot Can Cause Your Brain to Age Faster

Based on a 2012 study, women who had too much sleep in a span of 6 years had brains 2 years older than those who slept for 7 to 9 hours only. While it’s true that sleeping is good for your brain and the rest of your body, the said study had revealed that oversleeping can cause the accelerated aging of the brain.

The same scientists who conducted the research mentioned earlier also found out that sleeping a lot increased the participants’ chances of having diabetes. The study showed that oversleeping had caused insulin resistance in the participants, thus making them susceptible to developing type 2 diabetes eventually.

If you are suffering from lower back pain, getting sufficient amounts of rest can make the problem go away. However, sleeping too much can actually exacerbate the problem. Having an achy lower back all the time may entice you to spend a lot of time in bed and catch some shut-eye, but oversleeping can in fact worsen your chronic back pain.

Sleeping a Lot Can Leave You Feeling Sleepy During the Day

Better think again if you think that sleeping a lot at night can save you from being lethargic the following day. Getting more than 9 hours of sleep can actually make you feel dizzy and tried the day after. What’s more, that nagging headache which you are at risk of having due to oversleeping may want you to go back home and stay in bed.
