It helps lower the blood pressure

Butternut squash is an excellent source of potassium, the same mineral found in bananas that people with high blood pressure load up on.

It strengthens your bones and teeth

No matter if it’s osteoporosis or losing your teeth that you are afraid of, or both, you should consume butternut squash often as it contains calcium.

It wards off constipation

Thanks to the loads of dietary fiber present in butternut squash, consuming it regularly helps make you, well, regular.

It strengthens your immune system

Good amounts of vitamin C can be obtained from every serving of butternut squash, so you know that your immune system is bolstered.

It improves eye health

Another vitamin present in butternut squash is vitamin A, a nutrient you need to keep your vision sharp and your eyes safe from cataracts, macular degeneration and others.

It helps you lose weight

Being very, very low in fats and containing a few calories only, the addition of butternut squash to your diet can assist you in your quest to get to your ideal weight.

Because of all these reasons, it is a wonderful idea for you to regularly consume butternut squash. One way of enjoying it is by turning it into crispy and lip-smacking fries. And here’s how it can be done:

Ingredients:

1/2 medium-sized butternut squash

1/2 teaspoon of finely-ground sea salt

Olive oil

Directions:

-Have your oven preheated to 425°F which is equivalent to 220°C.

-While waiting for your oven to get heated, peel butternut squash and remove the seeds.

-Cut into half and then start slicing one of the halves into French fry-sized sticks.

-Lightly grease a large cookie sheet with olive oil and neatly arrange butternut squash fries on it.

-Sprinkle a little sea salt on the fries. If you want, you may also add a little of your favorite herb like thyme or rosemary, or spice such as cayenne pepper or paprika for the most unique fries ever.

-Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown. Halfway, flip the fries over.

-Allow to cool for a while and then serve with your favorite condiment.
