Probiotics — simply put, they are live bacteria that offer tons of benefits, and they reside in your gut. There are so many different food products that help optimize the population of those good bacteria within us, and one of those is yogurt. In this article, you will learn how to make probiotic gummy candies using yogurt as one of the ingredients.

These days, there are lots and lots of yogurts available at supermarkets. While they indeed supply the body with those probiotics, most of them also flood the body with sugar, artificial flavorings and colorings, and a few other unfavorable ingredients. Easily, those additionals can easily offset the perks offered by probiotics.

Unfortunately, it’s those yogurt variants that come with fancy flavors and eye-catching colors that are loved by kids and even most adults. All the sugar they contain actually feed bad bacteria in the gut, causing them to multiply uncontrollably, easily outnumbering their beneficial counterparts that are being introduced by means of the diet.

But there’s hope as Greek yogurt is around, which is something that packs all the goodness of yogurt but without all of those things that give flavored yogurt varieties a terrible reputation. By including Greek yogurt in your everyday diet, you can be certain that your gut is being supplied with beneficial bacteria and nothing else.

So why not just give kids Greek yogurt? To be honest, this type of yogurt is not as palatable as the flavored varieties. It has a tangy flavor, which is the reason why it is often topped with fruit slices. But then again, not too many children are fond of eating fruits! And this is when the perks of whipping up probiotic gummy candies steps into the scene.

Kids love gummy candies, but parents hate them because they are loaded with sugar — especially the refined kind — that can cause all sorts of problems, from tooth decay to childhood obesity. But the gummy candies you will later on learn how to make are entirely different because they contain no refined sugar, plus they have probiotics!

Excited to give your kids some sweet treats that can help make them healthier? Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup of fresh fruit juice (completely your choice)

1/3 cup of grass-fed gelatin

1/4 cup of organic honey

Directions:

-In a small saucepan, simmer 1/2 cup of your chosen fresh fruit juice. On the other hand, place the other 1/2 cup of fresh fruit juice in a small mixing bowl. By the way, you may also go for bottled or boxed fruit juice that you can easily buy at the supermarket, but make sure that it is 100 percent pure and unsweetened.

-Once simmered, immediately turn off the stove.

-Pour grass-fed gelatin in the mixing bowl and stir using a whisk.

-Carefully, whisk in fruit juice that you just simmered. Continue stirring until the mixture appears smooth.

-Transfer the mixture to a blender and then blend on low. Add organic honey and then blend again for a few seconds until the ingredients are well-mixed.

-Pour into silicone molds and place in the refrigerator for several minutes until set. If you don’t have silicone molds, grease a mixing bowl with a little olive oil or coconut oil, and pour the mixture into it. Allow to set in the refrigerator for several minutes. Afterwards, slice into small cubes.

That’s how quick it is to come up with probiotic gummy candies that you and your kids will surely enjoy snacking on! The remaining gummy candies can be kept in the refrigerator — it will stay fresh for the next 4 to 5 days.
