Gas build up is a natural part of the digestive process but when it becomes in excess, bloating and uncontrollable passing of wind can occur which can be a source of embarrassment especially when it happens in the most inopportune moments. There are many factors that can contribute to bloating and gas such as eating spicy foods, excessive drinking, not chewing your food well, digestive problems, even bacteria build up. When bloat and gas occurs you might experience stomach pain, burping, bad breath, and flatulence. Taking antacids might be the first thing that you will do but there are other treatments available to control these two.
Apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is one of the best options available when it comes to treating gas. Not only that, but apple cider vinegar is also effective against indigestion which is a plus if you have poor digestion. Just add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water and let it cool for a bit. Drink the solution afterwards to remedy gas and bloat.
Caraway. Too much gas in your body can trigger bloat making you puffed up. A good remedy for this is to have some caraway seeds or caraway crackers. Caraway has been used for centuries to treat digestive problem particularly gas build up. You can chew on caraway seeds when you feel that your stomach is full of gas or have some caraway crackers. If you tend to experience gas and bloating regularly, chew on caraway seeds every morning until these problems subside or disappear.
Baking soda and lemon. Another home treatment that is effective in combating bloat and gas is combining baking soda with lemon to create your own antacid. Add the juice of lemon in a glass and add some baking soda which will start to fizz. Add some more baking soda then stir the mixture completely so that the baking soda is dissolved properly. Drink the solution slowly to relieve bloat and gas.
Pumpkin. One of the reasons why gas builds up in your stomach is because of poor digestion. Foods that are high in fiber may also be the cause of flatulence because they are not that easy to digest. When this happens, the bacteria that breaks down fiber produces by-products that create gas in our stomach causing bloat. Eating pumpkin, on the other hand, reduces this problem significantly.
Cinnamon. Cinnamon is also another effective remedy against gas and bloat as it soothes the stomach to minimize gas build up. You only need to add one half teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of warm milk. Stir the contents to blend the ingredients properly and drink afterwards. You can add some honey if you like. You can also have some cinnamon tea to alleviate bloating and gas if you like.
These are just a few examples of home remedies that can reduce your digestive problem. The best part is that you can always whip these remedies up any time without worrying about chemicals and the like.
