You see, you can easily buy mixed spice at some supermarkets these days. Also sometimes known as pudding spice, it’s simply a blend of many different spices. But why buy ready-to-use mixed spice if the various spices mixed together can be found in your spice rack or pantry? So if you want your spiced pear crisp masterpieces to be completely made from scratch, then simply check out the mixed spice recipe later on in this article.

Let’s get started with the recipe for making spiced pear crisps:

4 pears (opt for firm ones)

2 teaspoons of coconut oil

1 teaspoon of mixed spice

Get your oven preheated to 140°C, which is equivalent to 300°C.

Wash pears thoroughly under running water.

Carefully using a knife, chop up the pears into thin round slices. You may also use a mandoline slicer.

Neatly place the pear slices in a large baking sheet and drizzle with melted coconut oil.

Sprinkle mixed spice.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the pear slices are already browned and crisp.

Once cooked, transfer to a wire rack.

Allow your spiced pear crisps to cool completely before serving.

They’re so easy to make, right? Keep unconsumed spiced pear crisps in a resealable bag or airtight container to keep them fresh and crispy.

Now here’s how to make mixed spice from scratch:

1 tablespoon of cinnamon

1 tablespoon of nutmeg

1 tablespoon of allspice

2 teaspoons of mace

1 teaspoon of ground cloves

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

1 teaspoon of coriander

In a small bowl, mix all of the ingredients very well.

Transfer to a small airtight container and place in a cool and dry spot in your kitchen.
