Kids love summer which isn’t surprising knowing that they prefer to run around the yard playing, or swimming in their kiddie pool, and just enjoy a little bit of freedom. It’s quite entertaining to see them doing all sorts of mayhem but make sure that they get to cool down after a while. Making them some tasty slushies will be a welcome treat for them so here are a few recipes for you to try.
Cherry lemonade slush.
For this recipe, you will need a cup of fresh cherries with stems and pits removed, 2 cups of crushed ice, 1 ½ cups of lemonade, a teaspoon of sugar, and a cup of lemon lime soda (optional). Combine cherries, ice, lemonade, and sugar into your blender and blend until you reach the right consistency. You can add the soda if you like afterwards if you like. Just stir it into the drink and serve.
Triple citrus slushie.
If your kids love a bit of tang in their drinks then this recipe is definitely a must. You will need a lime, orange, and lemon which are enough for two glasses of this delicious and refreshing slushie. Get the juice from these fruits then dilute in water. You just need 10 oz of water for your 10 oz of fruit juice. Add 2 to 3 cups of crushed ice in the blender then pour your mixture. Blend until you achieved your desired consistency and you’re done. Pour the slushie into glasses and serve.
Strawberry yogurt swirly slush.
For moms who want to give their kids an extra dose of protein, this slushie recipe is going to be a hit. You should prepare a cup of sliced strawberries, ¼ cup of strawberry yogurt, ice and water for blending, sugar, honey, or sweetener for that extra taste. Put all the ingredients in a blender, except for the yogurt, and blend thoroughly. Pour the mixture into a large glass so that you’ll have enough room on top to add the yogurt. Spoon the yogurt into the drink and use a thin spoon to create swirls with it.
Whip up this summer treat for your kids using 3 cups of ice, ½ cup of peach juice, 5 cups of cubed, seedless watermelon, ¼ cup of superfine sugar, 1 cup of club soda, and peach slices for garnish. Put the watermelon, peach, ice, and sugar in the blender and blend until smooth. Add the club soda then blend it for a few seconds. Pour the mixture into glasses and add peach slices for garnish then serve.
These are just a few slushie recipes that are guaranteed to be a hit with your kids and to the adults as well. They’re all tasty and will give you an extra dose of vitamins and minerals while chilling in the summer. For sure, your kids will be looking forward to these drinks after having a bit of fun out in the sun.
