Mashed potatoes, pot roast, hamburger steak, meatballs, fried chicken — what do these treats and many others have in common? Well, they taste so much better when slathered with gravy!
However, someone who is sensitive to gluten or steering clear of this substance present in a variety of grains may have no choice but to say “no” to gravy each time in order to prevent being glutened or glutenizied. And if you have been dodging gluten for some time now, then your mouth may be filling with saliva at this moment thinking about gravy and all the delectable foods that go very well with it.
The good news is this: you can actually switch to gluten-free gravy if you are sensitive to gluten and you simply cannot imagine spending the rest of your life gravy-free. You can scour the entire land for some gluten-free gravy, or you can simply make it from scratch — in your very own kitchen and with your own two hands.
Got no experience with making sauces? No worries. That’s because it is really easy to come up with your own gravy that is devoid of any gluten. And you can be sure that it will delight the taste buds.
Then there is also the hard-to-overlook pride and joy that making a culinary masterpiece from scratch brings. Just imagine all the flattering remarks that you will get when you invite over relatives and friends, and serve in front of them your homemade gluten-free gravy. Of course the accolades will be multiplied by several times if someone at the gathering is sensitive to gluten and you proudly state: “don’t worry, I made sure it’s gluten-free!”

2 cups of boiling water
2 pieces of sodium-free chicken bouillon
3 tablespoons of cornstarch
2 tablespoons of margarine
-Carefully, dissolve 2 pieces of sodium-free chicken bouillon in 2 cups of boiling water. Make sure that there’s no clump remaining. Set aside.
-Grab a medium-sized saucepan. Using medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of margarine.
-Reach for a whisk. Gradually add cornstarch to the melted margarine. Allow to cook for about a minute while you continuously whisk the ingredients.
-Gradually add the chicken bouillon soup you made earlier into the saucepan. Make sure that you whisk continuously to prevent lumps from forming, which will definitely keep you from having the perfect gluten-free gravy.
-Reduce heat. Allow to simmer until your homemade gluten-free gravy is already thick. See to it that you whisk regularly to keep the ones at the bottom of the saucepan from getting burned.
-Add a little salt and ground pepper. You may also experiment and add a dash of thyme or dried basil, or any other herb that you feel can make your gluten-free gravy one of a kind and unforgettable.
