Tips on How to Ready Your Feet for the Summer

Summer is almost upon us which means that we will soon be trading our winter clothes for something lighter and breathable. This goes true with our footwear too where we can ditch our knee length boots for some sexy, strappy sandals. However, are your feet ready for such exposure?

With our feet constantly covered during the winter, taking care of them has become lost at the back of our minds. After all, no one will see the condition of our feet, right? Unfortunately, when the hot weather has finally arrived, our feet look dry and cracking. Well, this is not the time to despair because it’s not too late to have your feet ready for the beach. Here are a few tips on how you can ready your feet in time for summer!

Foot peel

Face masks are all the rage in reviving the skin, but a foot peel? This may sound weird to you, but it seems that it does help in making your feet ready for the beach. A foot peel provides your feet with deep exfoliation which means that all the dead skin cells that caused your heels to thicken will be removed or peeled off easily. Once applied, you will need to leave it for an hour, before peeling it off.

Moisturize

The skin on our feet tends to lose the moisture and natural oils that it has as we age. This contributes to us having dry as well as cracked feet. Fortunately, there is an easier way to solve this problem, and even prevent it too, and that is by applying moisturizer religiously. When you introduce more moisture to your feet, the cracks on the heels will heal faster, plus any debris that you may pick up as you walk around, will not get lodged on your feet and cause infection.

Invest in an at-home foot spa

You don’t really need to go out of your home to have a foot spa because buying one for your use is worth the money you will be spending. This is perfect for pampering yourself while enjoying your favorite TV shows. Soak your feet in this tub and it will help remove all the dead skin cells that are causing your feet to look dull.

Trim those toenails properly

You may have been rounding your toe nails every time you cut them, but this is one practice that you need to stop. Rounding your toe nails are actually putting yourself at risk of ingrown, where the nail goes downward into your skin. Cutting your nails straight is much better. If you are going to have a pedicure, ask the technician to simply push your cuticles backward rather than cutting them.

Invest on the right tools

Since you will be taking care of your feet on your own, then you will need to invest on the right cleaning tools, specifically those that are made from stainless steel. Stainless steel cleaning implements are easier to clean and disinfect, plus they will last you for a long time.

Treat your sweaty feet

For those who tend to sweat a lot, you’re probably dealing with damp socks when you get home. Removing your shoes and socks as soon as you get home allows air to circulate around your feet, thus minimizing your risk of getting an infection. You can also prepare a black tea foot spa to help reduce the amount of sweat that your feet are producing.

If you want to show off your feet during the summer, it is high time that you take care of them stat!
