Humectants – are mostly used in cosmetics to retain moisture in the face. It can be found in cleansers that are vegetable oil, glycerol and glycerin base. Products that have humectants are great for dry skin.

Emollients – can soften and moisturize the skin. It will also lock in moisture in the skin.


When trying on products pick one that contains one of these ingredients. Interchange them to determine which product works better on your skin.


Scented or Unscented

Products use certain chemicals or natural oils that give body cleansers its scent. You can find wide arrays of scents from vanilla to wood. If you tend to use perfumes or cologne avoid using products that have strong and distinct smells. People with sensitive skin should avoid scented products too, some of these products use scents that can cause allergic reactions.


Go Natural

Natural products require little to no chemical additive making it safer for the skin and more suitable to different skin type. The only problem you will find with natural products is that they expire faster than those that contain chemicals.
