Lace slip-on

One DIY idea that you can use to beautify your slip-on sneakers is to add a bit of lace to it. This may sound like a tough job but it’s fairly simple. First, apply some fabric glue on the surface of your sneakers then apply the lace. Cut any extra fabric using scissors then use fabric glue to keep the edges on the shoes and you’re done.

Fabric sneakers

Lace isn’t the only thing that you can use to dress up your sneakers because even the cheapest fabric can brighten your shoes in a jiffy. The best part? You can liven up your shoes with any fabric that you see. Who knows? You might end up making more of these DIY shoes in the long run.

Dip-dyed

The changing seasons may be a bummer for you especially when you are fond of the summer colors, but this doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy your favorite hues throughout the year. As a matter of fact, you can bring your summer colors with you all the time. You just need some white sneakers, vaseline, your choice of fabric dye, old toothbrush, and baking powder. Prep your shoes by removing any inserts, laces, and the like. Coat the sides of your rubber sole with some Vaseline. Mix dye by following the instructions then wash sneakers thoroughly so the dye will adhere to the canvas. Dip shoes about 1/3 of the way. Water the mixture down if it’s too dark then dip your shoes once more, but higher than the first one. Repeat as needed until you get the lightest shade at the top with the darker shade at the toes. Use a damp cloth to rub the color gently so there won’t be any harsh lines on your shoes. Once you are satisfied with the results, leave the shoes to sit for about five minutes then rinse afterwards using running water. Hang overnight. Pour some baking soda on the sides of the shows that have vaseline. Use your old toothbrush to scrub the baking soda until you have removed all the Vaseline. Wipe it off using paper towel. You’ll know when you’ve removed everything when the soles are not that tacky any more.

Crystal sneakers

What else can you do to make your shoes stand out? Well, how about adding a bit of bling to your footwear? Adding crystals about 1/3 of your shoes using fabric glue will help the accessories adhere to your shoes. Let the crystals dry up and you’re done. You will find that your shoes will have that extra shine to them that others will be envious of.

So you see? There is no reason for you to forget your old sneakers anymore because you can actually upgrade its look to suit your preferences. With a little bit of creativity on your end and some tools, you can make your sneakers like brand new in no time.
