We need it to keep our teeth and bone health, it can also help with body weight, reduce chances of cancer, heart health and balance blood pressure. Calcium is not only present in our bones, but also in our blood. Calcium deficiency is dangerous to our health. Some of the biggest symptoms are brittle bones, poor dental health and osteoporosis. You Break Bones Easily

Breaking bones due to accidents are normal. However, if you experience breaking your wrist because you had a minor fall – this could be a big indication that your bones are becoming too brittle. As we age our bones tend to become more brittle and it loses calcium. We are not able to replenish the calcium our bones disperses. It is important to have enough calcium in the blood to prevent the bones from releasing it. There is a difference from getting a strain, sprain and a broken bone. Muscle Cramps

Muscle cramps tend to happen a lot. It can be caused by overexertion, lack of exercise and so on. However, persistent muscle cramps can be a symptom of calcium deficiency. Long term calcium deficiency can cause discomfort in the muscles, contraction and muscle tenderness. Your calcium level should never be too low that you experience these symptoms, this can be dangerous if not treated.

If you are someone that is consistent with your dental checkup, dental hygiene and avoid foods that can be bad for your teeth and still experience dental problems – then you may have a calcium deficiency. Lack of calcium can make the teeth weak, making it prone to damage, thinning of the enamel and gum problems. If your teeth tend to chip off with little effort, then go to your doctor. They can prescribe you with supplements or a diet plan to improve calcium levels.

High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is often not associated with lack of calcium. However, studies have proven that increasing the intake of calcium in your diet can greatly reduce the chances of high blood pressure.

There are a lot of factors can affect calcium levels in the body. Your calcium absorption can be affected by medication, diseases age and most importantly you diet. The best way to get enough calcium in your body is to eat a balanced diet. Eating lots of veggies, carbohydrate and protein is ideal. However, if you are experiencing any of the symptoms of calcium deficiency. Go to your doctor for a checkup, you might need some medication to help with your deficiency.
