  • Ice. If the itch is driving you mad at the moment, the best solution would be is to get an ice cube and place it on the swollen skin. The cold temperature can numb the area plus it will help make the swelling go down. Although this can be a bit messy, especially when the ice starts to melt, it is much better compared to putting the ice in a pack before applying on your skin.
  • Banana peels. Bananas are delicious and can be used to deliver potassium and other essential nutrients to your body, but did you know that the banana peel is actually useful when it comes to alleviating the itch on your skin? All that you have to do is to rub the peel on the mosquito bite and it will reduce the swelling in no time.
  • Peppermint toothpaste. Another trick to getting rid of the itch from a mosquito bite is to apply organic peppermint toothpaste on the affected area of your skin. This is because peppermint has menthol which can soothe the inflamed skin so you’ll experience less itching. Just apply a small amount of the toothpaste and then spread it over the mosquito bite. If you are going to reapply the toothpaste, wash your skin first.
  • Cold tea bags. Drinking tea does have health benefits such as protecting you against free radicals and promoting digestion and weight loss. Another benefit to tea bags is that they can be used to reduce the itchy sensation from the mosquito bite. Pop a used tea bag in the fridge to cool it then place on the mosquito bite after. The cold temperature will reduce the swelling while at the same time, remove the itchy sensation to reduce your discomfort.
  • Lemons. Lemons are also another solution to that pesky mosquito bite. This citrus fruit can actually remove the itching and pain from the mosquito bite plus it will prevent bacteria from seeping into your skin from the bite. Just get a slice of lemon and put the rest in the fridge. Wash the area where you were bitten then pat dry. Squeeze the slice of lemon over the affected area so that the juice will drop onto the offending bite. You can also put the juice in a small cup or bowl then use a cotton ball to dip into the juice and apply on the affected area.
