Must read

We are all guilty of procrastinating at one point in time. It may be that your plans were changed unexpectedly or you just feel lazy. Regardless of what makes you put off a task at one point, don’t you wonder why we tend to procrastinate? Studies show that those who procrastinate are those who often have difficulty managing their distress. This means that when they see a task as something that is boring or going to be tough to handle, their instinct is to simply do another task instead. So how can you deal with procrastination anyway?

If you are starting to feel that procrastinating is becoming a habit of yours, it is never too late to change your way. As a matter of fact, here are a few tips that you can try to banish this habit completely.

Stop catastrophizing everything

Most procrastinators feel that the work entails hardship, pain, boredom, and the like. The problem with this thought is that it stops us from doing the job on hand. With that being said, make it a point to get the job done regardless of how tough, boring, or long it will take because hard work won’t kill you. As a matter of fact, it builds character.

Do a short review

Before you start your day, spend time reviewing all the tasks that you have listed for the day. Check the ones which should be your priority with the rest being delegated at the end of the more important tasks. This way, you will have more control over your time without having to procrastinate even.

Mark it on your calendar

If you are planning on doing something, such as a personal project, don’t just say that you are going to do it when you have the time. As a matter of fact, treat it as any important task and mark it on your calendar. This way, you will give yourself time to actually do them.

Do quick tasks first

After reviewing your tasks for the day, you can start with the easier ones first before going through the harder projects. This way, you will be able to focus on the more important tasks because you don’t have to think about minor works that you still haven’t dealt with.
