Slow Cooker Zesty Chicken Tacos

Tacos is a traditional Mexican dish that’s made up of wheat tortilla that’s rolled or folded around a filling. Filling can be made with a wide variety of ingredients including pork, chicken, fish, beef, vegetables, seafood and even cheese. Taco meals are very easy to make and is quite popular with a lot of people. Eating a taco generally requires no utensils and is often consumed with garnishes such as avocados, salsa, cilantro, guacamole, onions, minced meat, lettuce and tomatoes. If you want tacos but is already wary of the usual pork and beef recipes, try this zesty chicken taco recipe that’s guaranteed to make your taste buds craving for more.


Chicken breast (1 lb)

Salsa Verde ( 2 cups; divided)

Cumin (1-1/2 tsp.)

Whole limes (2 pcs.; juiced; divided)

Garlic Powder (1-1/2 tsp.)

Tortilla Chips or Warmed Corn Tortillas

Lime wedges and guacamole (for garnishing)



Get a cooking spray and start spraying the insides of a small slow cooker; then set it to low flame. Place the chicken breast in the cooker along with 1 and ¾ cups of salsa and half of the line juice. Cover and let it slow cook for 8 hours. This should allow the chicken meat to be tenderized to almost perfection.

Once done, drain all the liquid contents off. Shred your chicken and place it back to the cooker. Add the remaining ¼ cup of salsa, cumin, lime juice and garlic powder. Stir the ingredients completely until the seasoning coats the chicken fully.  Allow the mixture to get warm all throughout the way.

Your zesty chicken tacos now ready for serving. Add warmed corn tortillas or chips. Prepare garnishing of guacamole and lime wedges for an additional treat on the palate.
