Lemon juice

The antiseptic properties of lemon juice can help fight off itchy scalp. This is also useful when you have dandruff. All that you have to do is to apply fresh lemon juice throughout your scalp, leave it on for five minutes, then shampoo afterwards. Dilute the juice first if you don’t have any dandruff to worry about. You can also mix some lemon juice with yogurt and apply on your scalp before washing your hair to relieve the itching and dryness.

Apple cider vinegar

Another remedy that can help provide relief to your itchy scalp is apple cider vinegar. This vinegar contains anti-inflammatory properties that can get rid of the bacteria or yeast infection happening on your scalp. Using this solution can also regulate the pH levels on your scalp. Wash your hair and scalp thoroughly then allow to dry. Mix equal parts of water and apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and apply on your scalp completely. Use a cotton ball when applying this mixture. Let the solution seep into your scalp for a few minutes then shampoo afterwards. You can repeat this remedy daily or until the itching disappears.

Tea tree oil

You should also make use of the antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties of tea tree oil when dealing with your itchy scalp. There are many ways to use this ingredient such as diluting two to three drops of tea tree oil with a tablespoon of vegetable oil and applying it on your scalp or you can mix 10 to 20 drops of tea tree oil to half a cup of baby shampoo. Use this everyday until your scalp improves.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is also a good remedy for itchy scalp because it creates a protective barrier on your scalp to keep the moisture locked in. This is why it is such a useful treatment when it comes to itchy scalp. You will need to massage some warm coconut oil on a freshly washed hair and scalp and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash it off afterwards with some herbal shampoo or one that is perfume-free. You will need to repeat this treatment thrice a week. Another way to use coconut oil is to heat some then add to your daily shampoo before you wash your hair. Either way, it will help cure your itchy scalp.

Baking soda

You can also use baking soda to get relief from your itchy scalp as it has the ability to neutralize any bacteria or fungi growing on your scalp. It can also help exfoliate your scalp so that new skin cells will appear. To use this home remedy, you will need to apply some olive oil on your scalp first before applying a paste made of baking soda and water. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse thoroughly.

These are just a few examples of home remedies that can help you treat itchy scalp fast. What’s great about these remedies is that they can be used any time you want without having to worry about any side effects.
