Travel Essentials for Toddlers

Having a toddler in the house is like having a small tornado that moves around. You will need to keep an eye on them at all times as they may end up climbing too high on the furniture, accidentally bump on tables with glass vases above, and even cause mayhem with their toys. You can already imagine what it’s going to be like when you are traveling with your toddler too whether it is off to grandma’s or at the grocery. Although some babies are quite behaved, others may need a little more help from you to control their tantrums. So how can you have a smooth and safe travel with your toddler? Here are a few travel essentials you might want to prepare in advance.

Straw cup

As much as you would like to bring all your baby stuff with you, there are times when carrying too much stuff is just over the top. Just like bringing your baby’s sippy cup with you all the time. A better alternative to this is to invest in a straw cup that is made from silicone so you can easily attach it on the top of an adult glass or bottle to minimize spillage. This is more convenient as it takes up less space in your bag.

Ipad case

Some parents make use of their tablets to help keep their toddler occupied while they do some tasks which means that having an iPad case with you can be useful. This is ideal for babies who tend to drop their stuff as this case can protect the tablet. What’s more, it can be hands free as well as you can just place it on a table or even on the tray on the airplane to keep your little one amused. It is a bit bulky but if you can spare some space in your bag for it, it will be a win-win situation for you and your toddler.

Diaper bag

Of course, this should be your number one priority when traveling with your baby as accidents do happen and being empty of diaper can mean tons of headache on your part. Prepare your diaper bag early on and make sure that it has all the essentials such as changing mat, several diaper pads, wet wipes, powder, diaper cream or gel, and some extra clothes too.

Toys

If your baby is fond of a certain toy it is always a good idea to bring it with you when you travel as this keeps your toddler busy. What’s even better is that they are less likely to burst into crying fits or tantrums when they are occupied with their favorite pal.

Toiletries

Another travel essential that you shouldn’t forget is to bring your baby’s toiletries with you. This means their toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and others that are needed for their cleaning ritual. Even if it means just a few days out of town, make sure that you have what you need on hand so there won’t be any last minute stops in the grocery because you forgot them.

Baby ear muffs

There are times when noise can interrupt your toddler’s sleep especially when you are on the road or traveling by plane. With that being said, it helps to invest on noise-cancelling ear muffs for your little one so they will be able to sleep soundly even when you are traveling. This helps them feel like a million bucks when they wake up since their sleep wasn’t interrupted at all. What’s more, you’ll be able to talk about grown up stuff this way without worrying about your child hearing things too.
