Having sexual contact with someone who has pubic lice can leave you infected. However, you can still have public lice even without getting intimate with an infected person. You can get public lice by using some of the items of someone who has them, such as towels and clothes. Pubic lice can also spread by means of bed linens and toilet seats

Eliminating pubic lice immediately is important not only because you don’t want those creepy crawlers to be residing in your nether regions, but also for the fact that they can cause severe itchiness. Scratching is a definite no-no because your skin may end up broken, paving the way for an infection and other bigger problems.

Fortunately, there are remedies available for pubic lice that you can get at the local pharmacy. Unfortunately, you are likely to get a lot of stares upon asking the pharmacist for one of those fixes. It’s a good thing that there are also a variety of home remedies for pubic lice. Some of the most effective ones that you may try include:

Shave

The best way to put an end to pubic lice is by preventing those tiny bugs from having a place to live in. Such can be done by shaving off your pubic hair. If shaving is not your thing, then at least have it trimmed. Doing so will help make the subsequent pubic lice home remedies more effective.

Petroleum Jelly

You can suffocate pubic lice as well as their eggs by applying petroleum jelly down there. The more generous you are with the application, the better. Try not to get rid of petroleum jelly right away. Definitely, you want to give it enough time to prevent those pesky critters from living.

Comb

Do you have a fine-toothed comb? If so, you may use it as a tool to put an end to your issue with pubic lice. Just make sure that there is a plastic bag where all the pubic lice and their eggs can go straight into. Afterwards, seal the plastic bag and discard, and have the comb you used disinfected by soaking it in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes.

Tea Tree Oil

Reach for a bottle of tea tree oil as soon as those pubic lice have made their presence known. Dilute tea tree oil in equal parts of water, and then use a cotton ball to apply the mixture on your pubic area. Allow to air dry, and then put on a clean pair of underwear. After about 6 hours, you may wash it off with lukewarm water.

Calamine Lotion

A couple of reasons exist why calamine lotion is a superb home remedy for pubic lice. First, it’s actually capable of zapping pubic lice as well as their eggs. Second, calamine lotion helps put an end to the itchiness those pubic lice bring, thus saving you from scratching and potentially having a skin infection.

Neem Leaves

If you have access to some neem leaves, then you have a powerful home remedy for pubic lice. All you have to do is pound some neem leaves. Add a little water to come up with a paste. Apply on your pubic area before bedtime. The next day, wash off thoroughly with medicated shampoo and water.
